Here is the next gorgeous silk sari that belongs to Anusha’s mother Shantha. Anusha proudly wears this aesthetic Indian colour contrast of Red and Yellow weave. Colours of ‘arishina’ (haldi) and ‘kunkuma’ (kunkum).
Anusha picked this particular sari as she always liked thinking about how her dad went to Bangalore from Madhugiri to buy this sari for her mother. The sari his fiancee would wear for her muhurtham. Anusha maybe even a tad bit proud of the auspicious colour combination that he picked. The red and yellow of ‘arishina’ and ‘kunkuma’ . Her mother also fell in love with the colours.
This silk sari is 30 years old and Anusha’s father paid Rs.4000 back in the day in Bangalore.
Anusha wanted a retro look for the sari but with the latest trend too! A mix of the old and the new. So she went with the bell bottom sleeves with the cold shoulder. A combination not seen very often. This was designed by “Amora by Bindu Reddy”.
Anusha wanted pictures at the backdrop of Madhugiri Fort as it has been an important part of her childhood. She feels truly connected to the place and wanted it to be a part of the legacy that the sari also represented. It was surely a fun evening to see the monolithic rock, it’s fort and these abandoned office structures of the past.
Anusha says , She always loved her mom’s sarees when she was growing up and kept trying them on to see how she looked in them. So wearing her most important sari for Yards of Legacy is very special to her. Thanks for adding it to this collection Anusha!
