This time Yards of Legacy has two beautiful weaves in one post.
Two saris that belong to Medhini and Deepthi’s mother Nirmala.
This blue weave with golden thread checkered Kanjeevarm saree is 36 years old. Medhini says it has remained as one of her favourite saris since she began to understand anything about saris.
This was one of the first gifts to her Amma from her Appa (father) during their wedding. So seeing her mother in it has always been special to Medhini.
Medhini says “I always wanted pictures with the iconic Vidhana Soudha and the High Court as a backdrop. And when I saw you doing Yards of Legacy, I wanted a few pictures in Amma’s saree.”
I was more than happy to do so. Medhini is a lawyer, who frequents High court and most of the times has Vidhana Soudha in her view. So it did make perfect sense that we get a few pictures with these landmarks of Bangalore.
This beautiful Fuchsia, the more modern Kanjeevaram that Deepthi is wearing is only 5 years old. It is the sari that her mother wore during her sister Medhini’s wedding.
Deepthi says this sari signifies her Amma and her sister, the two important people in her life. Thus it is also a sari that she would want to wear to her own wedding! Thanks Deepthi for including this sari that means so much to you, to Yards of Legacy.
