The mint georgette

Here is another sari for yards of legacy. This one is special. Mehak Bakshi here is giving a new life to my mother’s lovely sari. Thankyou so much.

As Mehak’s mother doesn’t own saris anymore and she has converted her old saris into salwar suits, Mehak wondered if she could pick one of my mom’s old saris. I love her choice. So does my mother. This beautiful american georgette mint sari with those hand painted like prints!

This is a sari from the 70s. Close to 40 years old. I don’t even know how Amma manages to keep these safe for so many years. She bought it off for Rs.60 from those door to door sari sellers who used to walk with a huge bundle of saris all tied up in a big white cloth. Do you remember them?

From my mother’s collection of many silk saris, gorgettes and chiffon, Mehak picked a sari more to her way of dressing, a light weight sari with beautiful prints. Doesn’t she do justice to it! Time to save these saris too.

Thankyou Mehak for bringing such elegance to it in the most casual way by just being yourself. What a fun shoot this was.
