*Yards of Legacy*
Have you noticed how you get most number of compliments about how beautiful you look and how good your outfit is when you are wearing your mother’s sari? That is because, it’s true what they say! They no longer make them like they used to! Those old kanchivarams to the banaras. The rich colour combinations yet keeping with the classic subtlety. The beautiful border motifs and the patterns. Somewhere along the way, we have lost those designs, and now if they have to be reproduced they cost insane amounts of money and yet it might not even have that charm. So I want to do a project. A project personal to me and hopefully to the amazing women who have agreed to be a part of it. We want to wear one sari from our mother’s collection that is most dear to us, showcase it, and show the world it is a legacy of many yards of cloth that is still as rich and gorgeous as it was when She, our inspiration, wore the sari. Hopefully you will enjoy this journey with me, exploring and admiring this legacy , one sari at a time!
